QuickTime is once again freely available from Apple.
General Interest
Windows
X Windows System
- Xanim:
An X-Windows animation viewer, including support for QuickTime movies
(sound support is currently in beta testing).
Macintosh
- The Basics: QuickTime 2.1 and
MoviePlayer 2.1
- Flattmoov, a small
Macintosh program to "flatten" QuickTime movies so they are playable
on non-Macintosh platforms. (BinHex encoded.)
- Video For Windows is a Macintosh program/extension combination
that will convert AVI files to QuickTime movies (and vice-versa?).
- Movie2Snd:
extracts QuickTime movie soundtracks as System 7 sounds
- All Midi,
converts general MIDI files to QuickTime music movies.
Miscellaneous
- If you must go with MPEGs,
Sparkle 2 (Mac; now PPC native) can also convert QuickTime
movies into
MPEG
movies, and vice-versa. (Requires
Sound Manager 3.1 on PowerMacs)
(Works best with
Thread Manager; built into System 7.5.)
