Image Impact Notes

JLNStuff contains five small (about 32x32) inlined-images (gif files). All five total about 1.5K, so each should fit inside one network packet.

For the first 151 off-campus readers who loaded the entire page, it took on average 21 seconds. The standard deviation was 19 seconds, which should tell you something about what the high-end wing looks like.

I would suggest that the average should be viewed as something more than 25 seconds due to several factors. First, the figures come from the server log file, which thusly assumes that the time to transmit the last image was the same as the time to transmit the first request. Secondly, this was self-selecting against long loading times as some users did apparently cancel the loading sequence.
